A Short History Of... A QUICK LOOK AT ... a little bit about... SCRIPTURE SONG SOURCE |
|
|
SCRIPTURE SONG SOURCE is the end-product of relationships built over the last 30 years between Christians working together in various ministries.
Some of the songs in the catalog reach back to the 70's and 80's, and come out of campus Christian fellowship groups. Most are more recent, written by some of the same people, now professional musicians, pastors or laymen and women in churches across the country. The compiler / editor of this material, as well as a major contributor is Dave Cook. In addition to his years as a professional musician, Dave has had compositions performed at local and national levels, including work for the University of Kansas, the nationally known Lawrence Children's Choir, and projects such as the opening ceremonies of the Liberty Weekend, New York City. Dave currently lives in the Midwest with his wife of 20 years and their 3 children.
The SSS library presently contains over 150 songs covering almost 600 verses of scripture. The vast majority of these songs have never been formally published even though a number of them have been sung in churches for years.
Having been handed down by"word-of-mouth"from one congregation to another, they will now be available for the first time to churches worldwide via the Internet. In addition, we trust that many songs yet to be written will become a part of the growing catalog of enduring scripture music found here.
Scripture Song Source offers these compositions with considerable satisfaction in knowing that the texts are "perfect".
We know of no better way to memorize and meditate upon the word of God than the singing of Bible texts. It has been the editor's experience of hearing college age students recalling word-for-word the memory verse songs learned years before as children. Beginning with major verses and passages, we seek to create a deposit of hundreds of songs to be drawn upon by all who know the value of having the scriptures living in their hearts.
SSS operates from a "free" music policy. We say "free" with "quotes" because there are issues
of PERMISSION & COMPENSATION that need to be addressed. Please be sure you link to that page and read the guidelines.
